-Mission Statement, CCCS of South Texas
Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) of South Texas was established in Corpus Christi in 1969. This agency provides programs and services to consumers via numerous offices throughout South Texas. CCCS is a member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC), founded in 1951. Both are nonprofit organizations dedicated to educating consumers in the wise and proper use of credit. CCCS of South Texas is an IRS Code 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation locally controlled by an unpaid board of directors. The board is comprised of local community leaders from various occupational fields. To insure proper balance, no more than 40% of board members are permitted to represent money lending institutions. CCCS is not affiliated with any for-profit organization, and all funding obtained by the agency is used to meet the costs of delivering services to South Texas consumers.
CCCS of South Texas services include budget and credit counseling, pre-bankruptcy counseling, housing counseling, anonymous telephone assistance and consumer education. CCCS also provides a Debt Solver Plan (DSP) that gives consumers a workable alternative to bankruptcy.
