Worried About Losing Your Home?
Foreclosure Prevention Workshop Offers Homeowners Options
Consumer Credit Counseling Service of South Texas (CCCS) will host a free Foreclosure Prevention Workshop on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1706 S. Padre Island Drive.
CCCS is a non-profit agency approved by the Housing of Urban Development (HUD) to provide counseling and serve as a mediator between an individual and their Mortgage Company or lender. Counselors will meet with individuals on a one-on-one basis to discuss alternatives to foreclosure such as the possibility of switching from an adjustable rate to a fixed rate or non retention options such as a deed in lieu of foreclosure. From 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. a panel of experts will discuss options available to prevent foreclosure.
In order to provide the best service, participants are asked to bring the following:
• Name of originating and/or current lender;
• Original loan number if available;
• Monthly payment amount;
• Recent mortgage statement or mortgage letter.
“Reaching people as early as possible is the key to helping them find a solution,” said David Melton, president and CEO of CCCS. “The longer people wait the fewer options that are available to them. Unfortunately, many people wait too long thinking that the problem will go away and then want help once their house is about to foreclose.”
